Default flutter is all i get when trying to vent ..

Hey,

I think something might be up with my top mount or something because whenever i try to put a venting bov on my car (tried ssqv and r2d2) all i get is alot of flutter then a small *pppssshhhh* at the end.
The first thing to check would be the spring tension and for both bovs i tried, i put the tension to the lowest and still the same thing.
The thing that got me is when i had my car close to stock with stock boost and stock tmic, venting was fine, as in i got the 'right' sound from the bov. Now im running a process west tmic with 20 pounds and i dunno why my bovs arent working properly.

Also, its not a fault with the bovs because i tried the ssqv and r2d2 on my mates wrx (stock tmic and boost) and he gets the 'normal' bov sounds.

What could be the problem?

any help or input would be appreciated
Cheers
-Nick

Forgot to mention that when i got my stock bov on, everything works fine.
i dont think im losing any pressure because i cant HEAR any boost leaking and my boost gauge shows solid boost.

Nah ..

If he was losing pressure somewhere, he wouldn't be making positive boost in the first place, which wouldn't even give the flutter.

Check your vacuum hose which connects to your BOV?

Is this a case where you have to turn a screw on the BOV to set it???

how big the the vacuum tube when you use non OEM BOV? A larger diameter hose will flow air out of the BOV chamber spring chamber faster and give a faster BOV reaction.

also check where your plumbing the bov into.

make sure its a separate vacuum line not shared with any MAP sensors or fuel regs.

Yeah i always end up putting the stock straight back on after taking it for a drive and all i hear is flutter then a low boost vent. Wanna save my fan ..

But with the vacume line, i changed it to a blue one to go with my other blue stuff and it has an ID of 5mm, compared to the OEM 6mm. With the R2D2, the blue line was a nice fit as it came with the bov but it still gave me the flutter and a small ppssshhh. But with the SSQV, on the bov where the vacume line connects to is really thin and i just whacked the blue 5mm ID line onto it even though it wasnt tightly secured and i didnt get the ssqv squeek, just flutter. Could the vacume line not being properly secured be a big reason on why its not working properly?

Also, my vacume line isnt shared with anything, it comes right off the intake manifold.

yeah, spring tension on both can be adjusted by just a screw on the bov ..
