Default K&N Panel Filter cleaning

It is almost time to clean my K&N Filter and re-oil it.

Any tips on doing it? I have heard way too many stories of people putting too much oil on them and then bye bye AFM's and crap.

Also how should they be cleaned? Water? Petrol?

Cheers

Oh and I tried doing a search but the search button is too far away on my screen so i thought I would make another thread

wash them in soapy water, and rinse well with clean water, as for oil you can put too much on and get the AFM dirty. best to just lightly spray until the whole filter is an even pink!!

I use cleaner/recharger kit. Does the job well, found that i needed to clean the panel a couple of times - tip use low pressure water and take your time

spray the filter with K&N cleaner and leave to soak on the bench for 4-5mins

whilst waiting fill a bucket full of water so that it can be completly submersed in water.

once the filter seems soaked and starting to drip place it within the bucket and give it a vigorous shake and you see all the dust and sediments being displaced from the filter. once you think u have sufficiently shaked it take it out of the bucket and spray it with the garden hose (inside and out)

now time to oil it, with oiling it spray it completely around the outside at about 25cm's away and quick puff inside. i believe that is sufficient.

leave the filter upright for oil to soak and then reassemble it to intake.
