Keep the 2 litre.

any technical reasons?

Longer stroke in the same block height with the same rod length leaves less room for the piston. Many would argue that it's a downgrade from a 2.0 to a 2.5 in terms of strength and longevity.

Why do you want to 'upgrade' to the 2.5L?

Essentially we get them as the excess USA stock. JDM still uses the 2L engines which proves (in my opinion) they are still the bees knees.

Already having a EJ207 means you can smash in some serious boost which you can't do on the EJ257's.

what do you call serious boost im at 20psi now is that on par with most?

Mister Two 01-10-2007 10:16 PM

tuna runs 32 psi in his ej207 block. Thats a pretty good sign of its strength

Kato 01-10-2007 10:23 PM

20 psi is only 1.3-1.4bar.

With a good tune and supporting mods up to 2 bar is easily achievable these days.

thanks for info as only new to this dont really want to upgrade just fishing for information at the moment happy with 190 atw at the moment but the need for more is always there!!!

For the cost of converting to a EJ257 (quite a few thousand) you could spend that money on turbo's/intercoolers/suspension and be well ahead.
