What sort of filter did you buy?

If its a replacement panel filter, then all you do is lift the filter out, put the new one in, and replace the lid.

Steve_Richards 03-10-2007 12:23 PM

na its a one of those cone shaped racing style air filters...the ones where you have to replace original filter..

It should bolt onto the AFM then, remove the existing panel filter too

Steve_Richards 03-10-2007 12:29 PM

so i have to take out the panel filter and obviously the box its sitting in and then just bolt it straight onto the AFM??
I have heard they can damage the AFM???thoughts?

BrennyV 03-10-2007 12:32 PM

1st off, have you got an adaptor to bolt the afm to the pod?

Steve_Richards 03-10-2007 12:37 PM

yeah i got that :)

BALISTC 03-10-2007 01:06 PM

Well then yeah, bolt the adaptor to the AFM then bolt the pod to the adaptor.

IF you over-oil them, they can damage the AFM.

Steve_Richards 03-10-2007 01:12 PM

all i need now is the right tools.....i can't get a spanner down to get the bolts off to take the original filter box off.
what do you mean by over-oiling it??

mrclubspecevo4 03-10-2007 01:26 PM

some filters require an oil to be put on/in them in order for them to work (k&n is an example) and some don't, they are dry filters. If you over oil the oil-type filter, excess oil can be blown/sucked through and contaminate the afm causing the car to run poorly/cause engine damage.

on a side note, a few magazines have tested a variety of cone/pod filters and found that the cheaper (non-oiled) ones are actually better at flowing and filtering.
