you will need the gearbox and the built motor but it will reliably do what you want it to do....Flat 12's plus daily driver..

the rex "generally" is no great drag car.... With a standard rex and those times you are seeking you may need to add a new gearbox to your list as the standard rex box will have a good chance of crapping itself with the hard launches you will need for a 12flat
