I completly blew 4th lol I didnt bother opening just got a low km test car 04 box installed.

I guess in the back of my head I knew the gear box was on its way out, i was just hoping for tha best lol!
I will take your advice and cease drivin it, I think i can pick up a second hand 5speed from 'japanese wholesale' for around $1500.. does anyone know anywhere i cud find one cheaper??

In responce to 'wrxtasy' questions, its a 1998 wrx hatch, not sure how many kms the gear box has done, the wrx has done 150k and im pretty sure the gear box has been changed before just unsure when.. and i think its just got standard gearbox oil!!

If you get a import box, make sure you get the diff gear to suit.

Ratio's in import box will be different to you current diff and it will shit itself in a matter of time if you dont do it

how modified is your car? coz if its true that its been replaced before...do you know why? broke a gear before? if so and your cars reasonably modified, maybe its time to look a stronger box, ppg gears or a 6 speed? if you have the cash of course, better off then having to replace it again 6 months later.
