Unhappy Have I **** My Gear Box???

Hi all!

2 nights ago i couldnt find 2nd gear, as in my gear stick just wouldnt go into 2nd so i skipped and went to 3rd. I tried 2nd again 2 more times and again the gear stick just wouldnt find it! eventually 2nd gear worked again as if nothing happened!!

Yesterday however i heard a loud rattling sound when i was in 2nd gear! the rattling seemed to get louder. Then the entire time im in 2nd gear there was a very loud rattle, (almost louder than the exaust) i think its coming from underneath the car or close to the back of the engine bay. As soon as i switched to 3rd the rattle dissapeared! likewise with 1st, 4th & 5th.

This morning when i fired her up i could hear a slight rattle in idle, then in reverse it dissapears aswell as 1st but in 2nd the loud rattling returned then when i changed into 3rd the rattling is still there but not as loud!!

My 2nd gear still works but sounds like its doing some seriosus damage, not good at all!!!!

Does anyone know what might be causing this loud rattle? Is my gearbox moments away from blown?? or could it be something else causing this problem?? Im clueless!!! can anyone help me out!!

probably chipped a few teeth on second. Drop the gearbox oil and check for shrapnel. I wouldnt recommend driving that box.

Yes, dont drive it all all till you figure out what it maybe. You will save $$$ in more damaged bits.

I drove mine home after destoying 2nd. Needed more parts because the small chuncks went walkabout through the box

take it to a workshop..if you are asking how to do it it would be wise to take it to someone who knows what they are doing...will save you in the long run
