Why not give Tony Flood a call and see if he can't slot a reconditioned V6STi complete long motor in the hole for you. (08) 9472-1800 Don't forget to mention me (Morgan) so I get my usual commission

Default Cheers for the info.

Thanks for the advice. I am just trying to get as much infomation as i can at the moment as some of the quotes i have had have been through the roof. I thought the 96 engine eould have been a bad idea but i'll keep hunting for a v5 or v6 sti engine at a reasonable price. Have you any ideas on how much tony floods recon engines are?

No, but I was looking at it in his workshop on Saturday thinking you should get of your ass and call him before this motor vanishes :

A 96 motor wont fit a 99. They changed the heads and the inlet manifold bolting crs on the 99 motor which means you would have to use the 96 inlet manifold, intercooler, airbox...... The 96 STI motor wasnt anything special anyway as it didnt have forged pistons. You would be best trying to find a std 99 or 00 motor.
