turbo/intercooler & oil change
On monday (31st) my car (MY02 WRX) will be going into ASG to get a VF43 turbo, AVO intercooler fitted, to get the injectors de-capped and get it re-tuned.
My question is, by this day, the car will be probably within 150km of being due the next oil change & replacement oil filter. I have no idea what is involved with changing a turbo and intercooler, but correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that at some point it will involve the disconnection one or some oil lines. So, if this is the case, would I be better waiting until I get the car back before doing the change thus limiting the loss of my new oil, or would the oil loss be neglegiable so I should do it before so have fresh oil in the car for when the have it on the dyno??? |

Just get them (ASG) to do it at the same time following the turbo swap.

oil loss it very minimal when disconnecting the oil lines on the turbo. I think I lost maybe one table spoon worth of oil when I did my turbo swap.
Its a good idea to swap the oil out on a turbo change anyway.

Do the oil change and filter change at the same time, you'll lose a bit of coolant too ..

What he said - I'm in at ASG on the 3rd (wahoo!) and will definitely have brand new oil in. ALways a good idea to have a service before a bit of punishment on a dyno.
