Clutch Issues Maybe?
Hey All,
Thought someone out there might have a idea of a problem Im having with my 99rex. Recently had a MRT HD clutch and light flywheel installed and after about a whole 5 seconds of driving out of the mechnics I get into 3rd and just sit around 2,200-2,500 revs and just let off the throlle and this god awfull vibration noise can be heard (and slightly felt through the gear stick) for a few seconds untill it drops back down to about 2,100 (Also over time its gotten work, does it in fourth, and during acceleration in low revs). Now i went back immediatly and asked the mechnic about it and he didnt know about it but so far nothing has been done. This isnt something you have to try hard to recreate either, happens EVERY time. Its not overly loud, cant hear it over say the aircon, but turn everything off and yeah its clearly audiable. Now this is my only ride so im really worried im going to be doing damage by driving a defective car, and to be honest I dont wanna pay for something to be fixed that SHOULD be working. Anyone have any idea what this might be? Faulty Clutch? Faulty Fitting? Bad driving lol? Hope someone out there has a idea, thanks. |

Does the noise go away immediately if you push the clutch in?

Did they fit a spigot bearing to the new flywheel?

how long has it been since you have had the clutch installed?

Nah, its long past the bedding time. Cant be to sure how many kms ive done since then but its problably around 5k. This is why im worried, i really dont want to be doing any extra damage.

New flywheels do not normally come with a bearing. Most cars (not Subaru) have the bearing in the crankshaft, not the flywheel, so your mechanic may have overlooked it if he's unfamiliar with Subaru. My Boss had a Nissan Patrol that had no spigot bearing in it from new, same symptoms, Nissan couldn't find the fault in 25,000km. By then the gearbox was rooted. |
