doable..yes......worth it...not....tt will be under 6k...if u find the right equip it can be a lot less

and im basiing this on experience and knowledge of several friends doing it to various cars, one being an impreza

as for reccomendation...207 FTW!!

Yes, if you do the following:

- Find an EJ207 brand new in crate for trade price
- Buy genuine gaskets and oil pump for trade price
- Get head service done at trade price
- R&R engine yourself, assemble engine yourself

You'll come in under 6k.

Get a workshop to do it, and it works out to 6k or even more depending where you go.

I think 6k is pretty accurate, I'm pretty sure that i have seen the 207 block for sale brand new delivered for around $3,200 on the net. Once you add the cost of the heads to be reconditioned and the engine to be assembled and fitted it would be up around 6k.

This is what i plan to do with my GC8 in the very near future.... thats why i was asking rough prices as a guide.

My MY98 is coming up to 220km very soon, getting very tired!

Time for a freshen up!

Isn't that how much Regents was selling them for? $2600+GST? Around that area? Doubt they have stock ATM though?

Looks like i will have to do it soon. I got 225,000 on the clock but engine is still strong a ever

Anyone know the genuine part number for the Ej207 motor?

if you are dealing with the local workshops/dealerships then asking for a EJ207 short motor will suffice.

Just for the record I believe the part numbers are....
10103AB470 for EJ207
10103AB750 for EJ257
