Fairly certain you will find that rally cars and the pigeon noise making S13 all make their noise from compressor surge rather than the BOV. Never heard of a BOV making a fluttering noise before... Just get a silicon intake and leave the stock BOV on, pretty sure you will get good flutter that way.

pretty sure the sard r2d2 makes the de-de-deeeeeeeeew noise you're thinking of, my mate has one on his rotary and sounds just like that prodrive p2 that was on that old episode of top gear tonight

r2d2 bov is sick, however, it is my understanding that the stock BOV is best, especially for holding boost. Some of the cheaper BOV's are push type, and once under immense load (boost) they tend to open slightly creating a boost leak. The standard BOV, or even the STi BOV are pull-types, so when the car is boosting up, it will actually push the BOV closed, then when u back off the throttle, it will pull against the pressure and vent. The HKS bov works the same way, hence, when I was making my aftermarket BOV (coz im a ricer) selection, i was advised by a knowledgable person on this forum, to go with the HKS SSQV.

If you want to hear what it sounds like on a wrx/sti, gimmie a buzz!

I was going to do what adam (WRP10) did and remove the whistle on mine, but i decided if i was gonna do that, might as well stick with the standard STi one.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Impresiv i think i will go with your suggestion and go for the HKS SSQV. Who knows the best place to get one and will i need any additional pipes with it to fit the Avo top mount?

The chirp chirp pop sound is most likely from the waiste gates on some rally cars. A mate had an external waiste gate on his Evo 5 and it sounded good.

Has anybody used one of those Greddy waiste gates that are on sale??
