Default MY08 STI - Oil Usage on EJ257

Had the first service the other day 2,6xxkms or so and catch can I had fitted prior to my Dutton testing (about 2 mths ago) was 3/4 full of oil. Over the years on previous models have never had the catch can so full (never more than a 1/4 full).

Catch Can is located adjacent to firewall down low on RHS of engine bay, have now changed oil to full synthetic 10w60. Have been doing a moderate amount of laps at AHG over the past 6 weeks.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

cheers

They are known for using oil.

Bruce,

The 2.5's do tend to chuck a bit of oil up, especially if you do plenty of circuit laps. I emptied mine (Hyperflow) the other day after a few months with not a lot of track work and it had about 5mm depth of oil in it.

It's something you'll just have to live with...

Funny, mine hasn't dropped at all. every time i check it, its completely full. actually, im starting to get worried there is something wrong because its not chewing through the oil.
