Default Mod Suggestions

Guys,

Looking at my next round of mods, I was thinking about the the following headers and turbo kit. Just want some oppinions on if this is a good idea. I was chasing around 350-400HP ATW and I think I should get there, currently running 286 with Exhaust, Verso, FMIC and 1.5Bar. Obviously this will include injectors and a retune too, am I missing anything needed?

Headers:

Turbo Kit:

Cheers

Any other reason for chasing the hp numbers? (i.e. track work, drags, dyno comps?)

Unequal length headers are not as efficient as equal length, although with the equal's you loose the boxer note.

TD06 would be enough for your power requirements I would guess.

Also, remember that shopping overseas will attract import duties and GST when over $1000 so factor that into your budget.

K thanks guys, I do not want to loose the rumble so will stick unequal headers I think. Really the car I would like to be setup for track work. Do you think I should stop power build and get on with some suspension now then? I wanted more power really there was no real reason hehe :P...

Pesonally I would look at suspension items.

I may be different to most, but I don't look at power. Instead I prefer quick spool up and early torque. This lets you retain the 'point and shoot' nature of the car. Nothing worse than a big laggy car in my opinion.

1. Suspension (Coilovers, sways, strut braces, tyres, plus another a million other braces)
2. Seat time (head to AHG and fang the shit out of your car, you will work out what you want quickly that way)
3. Depending on what kind of track time you want to do, look at engine mods and braking mods.

good lap times aren't about putting your foot on the accelerator, its about not taking it off! brakes and suspension are more important than power mods. lots of people say they want to put their car on the track, but have no intention of ever doing it, look at the recent EVO vs WRX day. Think about if its actually what you want to do or wether your just doing it to sound cool and plan your mods from there

Thanks mate,

I might consider some coilovers for the time being then and then get some hours done at AHG. She is pretty quick ATM although a little laggy but will see how we go in the comming months.

Cheers

Nengun are pretty good in regards to this they marked my HKS turbo down as $400ish so it went straight thru customs. Just mention in the order notes for them to mark the order value under $1000 on the consignment note, as I am not sure if they did it without me asking or not (just don't bother asking Japanparts.com to do this).

I regret not spending money on suspension before engine, you will get a whole lot more out of a car that has well setup suspension than a car which has bulk power.

Also, forget getting 400HP out of a TD06 20G, you will struggle to push past 360. 25G will just get you there.

Oh, before all that, spend your money on track time. It's a better investment than mods. Power is nothing unless you know how to use it.
