Oh god?

Just because they do some ricier stuff doesnt mean the guys dont know their stuff when it comes to performance.

Leon Popovich was making 600hp Supras when you had no clue what a brembo looked like.

lol.........

when i was in a workshop the other day i heard a guy telling the subaru guy that his car does a sorta "shuddery" thing while the car was using turbo.

the subaru tech said if your not accelerating enough while your car is trying to use turbo, then it will shudder, you need to accelerate hard for your car to be able to use the turbo properly

in other words, if you dont accelerate enough the car will be trying to use turbo but it wont quite work

now i dont know if this is correct - maybe some of the techs on here can clarify or give more to what i said as im not too clear on it either

Yeah sounds like a loose turbo switch. Check that it is all plugged in correctly and on speed setting 3 for maximum boost.

Turbo with switch and cord shown below.

As a side note taking off the diffuser (called restrictor in rally circles) helps performance!

I'm with Kato.....get that turbo switch fitted, like the one David Hasselhoff used to use in Knight Rider. That way you can drive around normally when you dont want to "Use Turbo" and then, when you want to open up a can of woop-ass on someone just flick the switch and "Use Turbo"

So.....let me check I have got this right...

1) Come on forum and ask for advice...

as i have only ever owned v8 cars, i have no idea what is wrong with it.
to me it doesnt even feel like it has a turbo untill about 4500-5000 rpm.
and when it slowley picks up speed the car shutters slightly. my other mate has a r34 skyline and he said that his car was doing the same thing, and his coilovers were stuffed.
would appreciate any ideas on what the problem could be.
thanks.
2) Get plenty of great advice

ASG, MMS North of the River

RMS South of the river.

Addresses in the workshop thread.

You need a Subaru specialist - or you are going to be fed bullshit and be back here complaining.

For a start, FMIC and TD04 is not a great idea...it just introduces lag with not a lot of extra power.

Secondly, the ECU is probably richening up the mixtures due to the modifications. It's a well known fact that MY01 onwards needs a retune to gain the most benefit from any modifications, unlike the GC8 series,

Thirdly, an external vent BOV is robbing you of power too, if you're running a stock, untuned ECU.

My recommendation is:
- Fit a plumb back BOV.
- Get it checked over to work out where the shuddering is coming from.
- Reflash the ECU to make the most of your mods.
listen to this person.... i would go see ASG and get them to do a service and tune on it...

it will be like a brand new car after that
