Default Fuel Pump?

When driving the car started to behave as if out of fuel (when throttle applied it just splutters etc) and a bit further down the road when pulled over, the idle became inconsistent, then spluttery, then non-existant.

Now sitting in my driveway, when the pump should be priming it sounds quite dodgy, and when started doesnt hold idle very long... (If it starts/primes at all)

Despite the fact I had just filled up, i checked the fuel: plenty there.

I'm guessing fuel pump?

Possibly a bad tank of fuel/old dirty tank has clogged the in-tank sock filter. Have a look, cheaper than a new pump. Doesn't explain the pump not priming at all, but could be a cause of the dodgy sound when it does prime.

i think it's as Matt has said, fuel filter may be playing up. That would be consistent with a bad idle and cutting out i think. happened to mine once. i replaced it and it was fine

Yeah, from memory you get to it from the top of the tank, by taking the back seat out, and taking off a small panel/hatch on the right hand side. A few bolts on the seat, and a few screws in the panel, and it's all there. Relatively easy job.

Could also be an AFM problem or intake leak, best to check fuel pressure first and then take it from there. But I'm guessing you don't have a fuel pressure gauge...

Correct. Haha.

Also AFM issues ruled out, running an autronic...

NOTE: Def not the filter/s replaced both.
