Ok people, the 98 started running shit a few weeks back at random intervals blowing black smoke. So i changed the AFM. And the oil guessing there'd be some fuel in it.
Car went sweet as for about a week or two but now when it starts, the revs will vary from 1-2k for about 10 seconds then the car dies. But it tries very hard to keep running. Ie, doesnt just stop, it'll fire every now and then til it stops completely.

The whole time its playing this game, the POWER light (its an auto) is flashing, which is something I've never seen. And the CEL is on the whole time.

She's stock bar exhaust and BOV, the BOV is fine as i checked it over when the AFM problem first started.

So can someone tell me how to check the CEL code on a 98 and also what might be causing the POWER light to flash?

Look under the steering column and you will find a pair of green and a pair of black connectors. From memory, plug the 2 green together, then turn ignition to on. Long flashes are your first digit, short flashes are your second.
Ie; 1 long followed by 1 short flash gives you code 11.

When you have the code do a search on here and find what it matches to.

did the blacks and got a 12 and a 23... I'll search now.
