Default Intercoolers

Sorry for the noobness reaserched but it didnt anser my question.

Just wondering whats better for the 97 wrx's, top mounts or front mounts. Theres alot of people on here that have bigger top mounts n alot people have front mounts, is it like a personal taste or is there some other reason for it.

front mount = lag but better cooling ie no heat soak when at lights

top mount = much less lag but worse cooling due to heat soak when at lights

however a front mount can be less laggy once a gd tune is in the car aswell

It's harder for some bored asshole/stone/cat to put a hole in your top mount too.

If you're going for higher power levels, go a FMIC. TMIC should be sweet for most levels up to about 240kwatw i believe it can support more but starts to become the weakest link.

Unless you are going for big power, stick with the top mount. Much more responsive.

as much as cooling is better on the fmic, i would stick with the tmic until your mods require you to change it (depending on the power gains you are after), i have approaximately 180kw on all fours (from memory)on my RVR sportsgear and it still has the factory top mount
