I picked up a standard MY00 wrx exhaust off here for my sportwagon, had to modify the 2 holes that go from the standard front pipe to the new exhaust, but i love it. cost me $80, 2 inch, which is quite enough for me. Also has the standard WRX muffler, which has a little bit of note, but not much which i like.

If i needed too i could buy an aftermarket wrx muffler and bolt it on, but it's got a good sound as is.

+1 for just the diff back. I've got a mild steel 2.25" cat-back witht a Lukey muffler on my MY99 RX. Negligible performance gains, if any gains at all. Just get the muffler for the look/sound
