Default Radiator Repairs SOR

I managed to put a small pinprick hole in the plastic side tank of my radiator.

I've done a search, but not too keen on attempting a DIY

after calling a few places, one guy reccons that the only people who are 'allowed' to take out your radator and flush the system are Natrad because aparantly its an enviromental issues these days. unless you do it yourself, the smaller companies cant flush your system.

So Natrad reccon the plastic tank is worth around $90 and there standard service on a subaru radatior is around $250.

There gonna replace the tank, flush and drain the system total cost around $350. ouch.

i guess i'm gonna just have to fork it over it could be worse

anyone had the same probllem and come out of it spending a bit less? with out the hassel of DIY?

I took a VN to Ultratune in Midland with a similar problem. They sent it to a guy in Midland who plastic welded it and went back in good as new after being fixed and flushed out etc. In fact it ran cooler better than ever afterwards (spose new coolant helped). Sorry though can't remember how much it was because a whole heap of other work was done at the same time but I think it worked out at about $100 to actually get the radiator fixed. If you can take the radiator out and re-install it (piss easy) and fill it back up with coolant away you go! Alternatively you could try a wrecker but I'd still have the radiator pressure tested to make sure which will add up too. Sucks doesn't it

cheers for the help guys. i think i'm gonna hold out on the eggs and pepper thoe.

thats what all my mates said too! "just chuck and egg in there!" uh huh... i'd like to see them "just chuck an egg" in their radiators. maybe if i had a clapped out old holden i would
i dont fancy tryin to flush the bastard out when its full of egg.

i'm gonna just byte the bullet. damn it. that'll teach me for pullin a massive burnout just as we were all leaving to go on a 3 day camping trip. made it down there anyway with some stuff i brought from super cheap. cost about the same as a packet of eggs too still leaks a bit...

Its a piece of piss for a DIY.

DONT Buy a second hand one. The plastic end tank will crack shortly after putting it in.

Use this that I wrote:

save yourself the headache mate, if you can afford a wrx you can afford a new radiator, they cost about $400-$450 from odin radiators, then it will last years and years without even having to worry about it
