Aftermarket C/C in GC8 Turbo
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has installed a vacuum actuated cruise control in their Turbo wrx? Ive got one that i ripped out of my old car that i want to put in, but i read on a thread somewhere (and for the life of me i cant find it again) that said a vacuum cruise control might cause issues with boost. Anybody have any experience with this? Cheers in advance EDIT: Here's where i found it: http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/showthre...cruise+control Quote:

I've had a couple of WRX's with aftermarket cruise fitted but ripped it out before I drove them, one was a 95 & the other a 99, they both had a ball about the size of a baseball that fitted in the vacuum line which may have something to do with holding pressure whilst on boost?????
My Liberty cruise actually ran off an electric vacuum motor so it had nothing to do with manifold pressure but I ditched that too lol.

an electric/electronically operated cruise control would be a far beter way to go

Ill chuck it on and see how it goes, i couldnt really see how it would affect it to much, its not like the actuator fluctuates... hmm, need another "ctuate" word... |

Wow, 10 years, haha! Sorry to bust your prediction Bram
I did have it working... for a bit. And then the control module shit itself (it was pretty old at that point anyway) so I ripped it out. I didn't really use it that much to test it under all conditions (up hills on boost n such) but I think it was ok for cruising the freeway. As Type25 mentioned, better off going electronically controlled. |
