Default Silicone Intake Worthwhile?

Just wondering if this silicone intake would increase the engines performances. I'm fitting a V6 STI engine into my 99 WRX and want to fit out the engine to gain a little more power. Can anyone advise me on what would be a worthwile mod without going too crazy.

Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Subaru-WRX-si...ts_Accessories

Curretly i have these mods.

Up Pipe
Air Filter

i put an avo silicone intake into my 99-00, and it increased responsiveness, and made the car better fun to drive - increased induction noise and blow off
wouldnt go back - but its a b*tch of an install! if you do not get the avo pipe, which i can understand cos its $$$, make sure you pick up the 'short fat bit' to replace the 'accordian piece' on your intake set up.

So was your silicone intake the same as the one they are selling on ebay? If it's going to improve the engines performance like you said i'll do it for sure. Now where would i find a short fat bit?

Ok, I've found an AVO Silicone in take. Will the AVO be a better fit than the one i have posted in the link. It looks very different in the picture. How much did you pay for the AVO one? Anyone know what are they worth new?

You want one with a decent amount of silicone ply to stop it from sucking in on itself while under boost. No doubt the AVO ones would be quality, as would Samco, PSR .. few others.

It's a bitch to install as you have to get it under the inlet manifold .. More than likely you'll break the shitty OEM one while you go to pull it out.

Worthwhile mod though, even more so if you have it tuned.

Found my OEM turbo intake yesterday in the shed, man it's crap.

i got mine 2nd hand off the forums for $200. the only difference between avo and the rest is the avo bit is longer, goes from the turbo to the AFM, replacing both the inlet pipe and the accordian piece. i think they are worth $400-500 new

when looking for one that connects to the AFM, remember that the 99/00 model is 90mm, other models are 80mm (i think), but it is possible to give the 80mm a haircut to make it fit the 90mm

Race torque told me that you wont get any more power from it but you will get about another 20nm of toque. Definately worthwhile.

Yeah thanks again for the advice, I'm going to do the mod for sure. I'll destroy the old to get the new one in. Not too worried about it. I have ssen a picture of the OEM one and the AVO silicone one side by side. The AVO looks far better in terms of flow. Can't wait to fire this engine up for the first time.

Does anyone know about silicone Y pipes. Will this also be a good performance upgrade. I swear my JDM STI engine came with a stock 99 Intercooler on it. It Looks identicle to my old one.
