Hey guys just wondering if a CAI for a GC8 is worth the money.

i have a Apexi Power intake mounted on my AFM and its picking up air from the engine bay.

how much more performance/responsiveness will i get if i use a CAI?

If anyone has had both setups and found one to be significantly different can you please post you results?

I got same problem. im in process of getn a custom heat shield... the cold air intake will definitly help, but if you havnt got a shield it will be competing with the engine bay heat also ..

I'll be watching this post as i was wondering the same thing. I have a k&n pod on mine and have piping bring cool air from the front bumper up the the filter. I wonder what the difference would be running the filter in your gaurd. Common sense tells me the air would be more consistantly cool and there would be less turbulance therefore more stable AFM readings. Interested to see what has to be said.

Yea running ur filter in the guard is a better option.. but i got a FMIC so i got no choice the piping is in the guard ... lol

Yea? would a CAI be more laggy tho?

I've been told several different POV's.

I've got a K&N with a heat sheild and my father in law has a no name pod with a CAI and he claims its heaps better. yet my mate with a 04 is telling me the turbo will heat up the air anyway.. I can't agree 100% with him but he basicly said the CAI really just gives you better airflow into the pod/filter.

Cold is better but I get his point...

I doubt the CAI will cause any lag.. all it does is make it easier to feed the cold in to your POD while you are driving.. If anything, it is a better Air mix, wouldnt say it has any characteristics.

That's what i would have thought, because the turbo would be around the same temp as the exhaust rite?

i reckon that the cai would have a bit more lag due to longer piping... but without trying both on the same car, i cant really say!!

cai tends to be the preferred option tho, and i think it may be more legal, as pod filters arent allowed in the engine bay? the guards act as a 'air box' or something..

I'm talking about having your pod inside the guard tho.
So there is more piping bends ect.
