Default EJ22 vs EJ207 ... rebuild

Hey guys

In time I plan to do an engine rebuild for my 00 rex..
Orginally I had planned to buy an ej207 and then bore & stroke to 2.2L...

BUT....
I've looked in the shed and found an EJ22 long block out of a '94 n/a Liberty with a busted crank (apparently due to a dodgy timing belt change)

So here's a question for all you mechanically-minded folk on here...
Would it be a better option to recondition the EJ22 I have and put a new intake manifold and stroker kit into it? (effectively replacing the crank, cams, valves, springs, pistons, sleeves...the list goes on :P)
OR
buy a fresh ej207 short block and start from that?

Matty, I would like to hear how much your rebuild cost, as I think my build may be heading down a similar track

Cheers guys!

yes builds are expensive, but you get what you pay for! :P

also, take all labour out of the equation as me and my dad will be doing all work

Bud, you chose the wrong time for a build...

They're the best price i could ever find, keeping in mind that's US dollars...
How much power you're chasing will decide if you want the forged or billet crank.

That's not including labour...

Just an idea mate.... But if your wanting to do all the work yourself, ever considered looking around the auctions for perhaps an 02-05 Sti wreck ???

Engine, Box, harness etc all in one
