Plugs changed now have tractor

OK so changed plugs NGK PFR6B,s and did the fuel filter started it up and it sounds rough when idling, once driving it smooths out, also it seems to be blowing more black smoke when cold (always did till warm) it is a forged motor with early link ecu. I've checked all lines, FMIC piping and I cannot see any problems I did a QUICK check of plug gaps but they seemed OK it also said not to adjust plug gap on box ?

double check that you plugged in the correct leads to the correct cylinder.

Map sensor line still connected? just double check. You may have accidently pulled it out somewhere.

It's 97 model with coil pack on top I'm assuming each lead corresponds with the plug (cylinder) below it ? I did notice one of the leads didn't snap over the top of the plug as tightly as the others but thought it hadn't caused a problem before so didn't play with it.

when on idle, disconect that lead from the coil. see if this makes it run any different. If runs the same then that is your prob

check the gapping on the plugs?

I did with one of the round plug gap indicators (which are not great) and they were all close, the plug box says not to adjust plug gap as tip may get damaged ?

Will you get a boot doing this ?

If you do it right you wont. Or just turn it off, then pull it out and start again.

I've done the unplug and restart on the old V6 commo ute before, I'll try this then if no joy pull the plugs and check gap. Checked MAP plug, leads etc all looks OK, neighbours would not be real happy as it smelt like pure fuel coming out the back this morning.
