Default HKS Dump Pipe weird?

I have a HKS dump, nice looking ceramic coated even I think..but I noticed it has a open bell mouth like all aftermarker tbe's but this still has the flat blocked wastegate side flange like a stock dump? kinda weird isnt it? any thoughts on why this would be is appreciated...I know that the open mouth helps in many ways quicker spool cos of the lack of restriction better air flow blah blah

Im just wondering if I should change this before I get a retune with all the other mods im doing.

so looks like this

when I was expecting it to look like this

btw not my pics just so peeps that dont know what im on about can get a better idea.

Looks like a waste of time to me....the best performing dump pipes generally run an open mouth with a wastegate venturi...I'm sure there are threads on this forum...

My brother-in-law's MY99 WRX made 280PS at the hubs, VF34, FMIC, Power FC and that style HKS dump pipe...1.4 bar.

It's apparently designed to place back-pressure on the wastegate, holding it closed for longer...and thus building boost faster.

Ahh I see now.

Well I'd say the best dump pipe style to the worst would be:

1. Venturi wastegate
2. Seperate dump/wastegate pipes
3. Bell mouth
4. Dump blanked wastegate
5. Stock

This is just my opinion only for getting max power. There are also other pro's/con's for each style and it depends on your goal and other mods to make the decision.
