You have no ABS right?
Some handbrake cylinders will lock some pressure in the rear brakes after using it if you 'yoink' while braking at the same time. The correct type of cylinder will fix. Or you can briefly stab the brake pedal after handbraking. (not ideal I know)
Who fitted the handbrake assembly?
Do you get pulsating at any other time? ie; when normally braking?

Agreed, no ABS. If I am not using the handbrake it does not pulsate.

The whole thing was fitted by RT. I believe the handbrake and cylinder came as a complete unit.

It's a single circuit handbrake cylinder so they must have front/rear split the plumbing when they installed it. It cannot apply pressure to the front circuit. I reckon it must be mechanically retarding it through the centre diff. Even though you're electrically de-powering the DCCD it still has a mechanical action inside it. Maybe your technique could do with a bit of practice? Mine uses the exact same cylinder and apart from the previously mentioned slight holding on occasionally it works a treat.
There is some merit in having a stand alone handbrake set up though, I've seen some AP calipers on the rear of a BMW for that purpose. It would save the trouble of changing all the plumbing to front/rear split. I guess you could do a vertical cut and shut on a left and right backing plate to achieve a mirror immage dual caliper mount backing plate and run 2 x 2 pots. Provided the front caliper did not foul the stut perhaps. Or another option would be to run a 4 pot that has 2 separate circuits inside. Old Volvo 4 pots are 2 separate pairs of pistons and have 2 inlet hoses for instance. They are a horrible heavy caliper but that's the design you need, just have to find something like that but in Alloy. (when you do keep it a secret and just tell me so I can get some before the price goes up)

least if you use a heavy brake its on the rear and gives you a poofteenth better weight distro

Not worth the penalty of the increase in unsprung mass though.

If he's on the mark here (and I reckon he would be), then second calipers will make SFA difference anyway.
