Default Fuel Filter - DIY

How do you get the bloody thing off? I undid the clamps. I pulled really hard on the hose but it only budged a tiny bit. I'm going to resort to cutting the hose. Is that a good idea?

If so, where's a good place to get hose from? What sort of hose am I looking for?

I did however, pull the fuse etc so that fuel doesn't spray in me face.

Make sure that clamp is off completely. Use a bit of WD40 or similar on the hose end use a flathead screw driver to push it out. At the same, time pull it off with a twisting motion.

you will find that the hose that leads into the fuel rails is the easiest to pull off of the two hoses.. the other one will require you to twist the filter around about twice and then try a little bit of heave ho!

(make sure you drain as much fuel outta the fitler before doing this)

Just get a pair of pliers n twist the hose where the clamps were untill it moves a bit, they tend to stick in place after a while so once you break the seal they come off easy, same with radiator hoses etc.

I decided to make a DIY. It's real basic but here it goes.

PRECAUTION: when working with fuel, ensure work place is well ventilated and that there are no sources for sparks to occur.

TOOLS NEEDED
Screw Driver
Pliers
WD40

1. Unplug main fuse or disconnect battery. I did both This is a safety measure to prevent fuel spraying everywhere just in case the fuel pump becomes active.

2. Locate Fuel Filter

3. Take note of the orientation of the filter. Pay particular attention to where the INlet and the OUTlet hoses will connect.

4. Unscrew the hose clamps and remove them off the hose.

5. Apply WD40 to the into hose end. This will help lubricate.

6. Using pliers, grip hose and use twisting action to loosen hose from pipe.

7. Disconnect hose from filter. Drain fuel from filter. Leave clamp on hose so you don't forget to put them on after.

8. Unlatch fuel filter and remove filter.

9. Unpackage new filter.

10. Remove rubber slieve off old filter.

11. Reinstall in reverse order to disassembly procedure.

12. Turn car to ignition. Wait a few seconds for fuel pump to build up pressure then start engine.

13. Check for leaks.

That's it I think...
