Default 207 vs 257

Hey guys I wanted to do a little reading about the 207 vs the 257 engines... however I cannot find much information. Does anyone know a good website that will give you a detailed breakdown about the differences between these two engines? Also do either of these engines come stock in any subaru cars?

Do a search under EJ207 and EJ257, hundreds of threads discussing them.

If you have a flame suit handy, put it on now. All the info you could ever imagine re: the engine variants is on the forum.
207 = 2L
257 = 2.5L

The "7" denotes that it's the sti variant of the respective motor. ie. as opposed to the 205 and 255's found in wrx's.

EJ255 and EJ257 have same bottom end btw, just different heads. EJ205 and EJ207 are NOT same bottom end.

EJ 205 - WRX 2L
EJ 207 - STI 2L
EJ 255 - WRX 2.5L
EJ 257 - STI 2.5L

according to your avatar, you have an 06/07 STI, so your car already has a 2.5L EJ257.

you'll also find info on the "open deck" or "semi closed" etc, here is what they are referring to, the amount of support for the bore in the block.

open deck

semi closed deck

closed deck
