I know an engineer who has done just about every conversion worth doing. (and some that are not)..... Engine conversions to just about every type of motor vehicle, RHD conversions, rack and pinion, Dual controls, Gas, Diesel gas, 4WD conversions, full restoration, rewires, extra seating, extra fuel tanks, extra doors....etc.etc.
BUT, When he approached the DPI for accreditation (after waiting 6 months for a reply) they told him they 'have enough accredited engineers already thanks'

So make sure you consult one of their 'accredited engineers' or their opinion isn't worth jack shit.

DPI can give ou a list of crusty old farts that are (un) suitable.

My previous job was design and fabrication of 4WD accessories for 8 years. During that time I was involved in many discussions with the various departments that govern vehicle saftety. Changing a vehicle dynamics in such a radical fashion is probably never going to get approval and it'll cost you to get an engineer to tell you that. We would be asked on a daily basis to lift 4WD's above acceptable heights, and we'd have to refuse every time. It's simply not worth the legal liability for the few dollars you would make. The engineer will have to accept some saftey responibility, the value of that will be built into his fee so be prepared for it to be hefty.

Sounds like a white L series lol...........I thought there was a swerve test that they did to see if cars lifted more than 50mm could/had to go through to pass safety requirements.

It's funny how they measure cars that have been lowered or raised, lowered is measured from underneath, raised is from the height of the roof........apparently they have all factory heights listed, you'd be looking at a good 8inches on that monster.

Just hope my 50mm lift passes next week, that's if it's ready, I've canceled it 3 times already.

Lift kit will need engineering. Yellow pages or speaking to DPI to get a list of engineers would be your first step. Whilst getting it engineered, get everything engineered.

Alternatively, contact the DPI about your 'proposed' modifications and what their opinion is on how to get this legally done. Maybe you just need to submit a proposal and chuck it over the pits.

Wrapping your scrotum in barbed wire would be less painfull and less humiliating. They will not interpret any 'guidelines' either, but they will refer you to the 'approved engineers'
