Default Difference between R160 R180 LSD diff?

does any one know the part number which tells you the difference between the R160 and the R180.. i know the R180 is bigger than R160,that does not help if you don't have the two diffs in font of you..

The STI RA gC8 is also where you can get the 2 spot rear brake setup found on later my01 wrx's, that fits the R180. So you can keep your existing front brakes and replace the rears with that setup to avoid $3k brembo costs.

Default r180

The R180 diff has a "K" on top of the casing.

Bump...

I gather the K on the casing is an accurate way to distinguish?

Are all LSD 2 way and plated? Or are there differences in models...
Also how can I know if a diff is 2 way and/or plated

The bugeye STi uses a suretrac LSD front and rear. which is a one way mechanical.

Suretrac is not a one way anything. Suretrac refers to the LSD type.

Terms like 1/1.5/2 way are used to describe plated LSDs only.

K on the housing doesn't tell you anything.

There are white paint markings on the top of the diff that can tell you its contents if you have access to its interpretations.

ALL Subaru plated rear Diffs are 2 way.

And then there are R180 Suretracs (ADM GDB my01-my04)
and R180 Torsen Helical (ADM GDB my07 and ADM GRA/GRB my08 - my11)
Plate LSDs were only used in ADM GDB models; my05 and my06 STI.
