I was wondering if anyone could give an opinion on a PROCESS WEST versus and AVO TMIC for my MY08 GTB Liberty.

Currently I can access an AVO one for a good price, however, I have heard that the Process West with better splitter gets better cooling.

Anyone with an opinion.

I have a ProcessWest TMIC and it does give good cooling,
have removed the water spray as it does not fit well on the shroud and may not given much benefit.
The PW unit has the feature of a well fitting shroud and they do test each model cooler on the cars they are to go on. - so I recommend PW.
AVO stuff is pricey but they have a good reputation.

Just wondering how you know this? Have you got a temp prob pre and post cooler? Also why do you think water spray doesnt do much?

Hey, that's the problem with posting on P-wrx, you say something and then you get asked for evidence!
Ok fair question.

After a 2.5 conversion and bigger turbo, the original stock unit could not cope, the tuner had to reduce boost from mid range for safety. It was not possible to tune on the dyno, not enough cooling. After fitting the ProcessWest TMIC the power is now limited by the injectors - I still have the stock 440cc. Getting about 214kW atw, 6000rpm. So, no temp probe but I am satisfied it cools well.
My thoughts on the water spray are more subjective, 'seat of pants' told me it helped on the standard setup but I could not be sure there was any difference after the mods with the more effective PW tmic. Anyway, the nozzles did not fit well on the rubber shroud.

Another 'variable' you might need to consider is the 'tuner'.

Tuners are only human and some make mistakes.. lets face it, no-ones perfect!

Some people also believe that having such a large lump of metal increases heat soak, i personally love the OEM STI TMIC (GD series).

Then you'll also need to consider the whole argument about bar and plate vs tube and fin intercoolers.

^^ Agree totally! Except with tuners being human. They are green blooded aliens in my eyes.

Andrew

1.Dump pipe from phats is your best bang for buck mod followed by a good tune. Your stock cooler is more than capable as is your stock intake.

2.Upgrade your pads and rotors with some good brake fluid, forget spending $$ on 6 pots FFS

3.Get your suspension right with alignment and lowering springs or coilovers if $$ if not an issue.

1. Just awaiting the DUMP PIPE purchase confirmation

3. Well, got the uprated whiteline sways and alignment done already. Not to concerned about LOWER or COIL OVER ATM (although your pinks may get a look in if I win lotto )

2.Will get to the brakes eventually BUT we are all allowed to dream and my dreams are for the S402 rims and 6 pots BUT like a lot of dreams at $16k it probably not going to happen.

Who knows though - I might surprise someone
