Doug FTW!
it's not clunking coming from the gearbox, moreso a clunk being created by a physical weight moving back and forth on the longitudinal axis of the car - hence why i'm assuming it's some sort of mounting, allowing something to shift back and forth as the drivetrain goes from torque to no torque.

I dont think anything would move back and forth as the twisting force of the drive is going to be running side to side.

got the engine mounts replaced (one of which was completed severed, rather nasty!), but still no cigar

going with ross's comment - i think my pitch stopper bushes have deteriorated or are broken/severed. the pitch rod, however, seems intact.

definately a shitload of longitudinal movement when going on/off throttle, can feel it going through the whole car.

Keep us updated mate. My gearbox mount was changed too, old one was almost in 2 pieces, but I still have the same noise.

Ive got a spare RS Metal pitch mount if you need it. But the WRX plastic ones work fine also.
