Default Voltmeter on a 1999 WRX

hi all

just purchased 3 gauges for my 1999 WRX

- Boost
- Oil Pressure
- Voltmeter

Boost gauge was sooo easy and straight forward and works a treat

Oil Pressure gauge - all wired up just have to remove the intercooler to fit the sender

Voltmeter - well the manual was very brief

it has 4 wires

- Black (ground)
- Orange (lights)
- white 12v
- red 12v

ok well the first 3 wires were easy to tap into ..

but where does the red 12v wire go

at the moment there is lights on the gauge but does give a reading - coz the RED 12v wire isn't connected ...

anything fitting on of these before?

thanks

Justin

ok atm the moment i have the wires tapped into the radio wire harness

black , orange, white

i was trying to get a reading for the generator to make sure it was charging the battery at 12V ..

is it possible ? am i thinking on the right track ?

so your saying i could say tap in the cigarette light socks (12v live) ?

thanks

Justin

yeah,

your battery will be around 11.8-12v without the engine started, and up to 14v when the engine is turning the alternator.

if you want to make sure it doesnt drain your battery, just make sure you tap it into a power wire that only comes on with accessories. If youve already tapped into your radio wires, you may as well use the acc on for that.

Just out of curiosity, what does it say the white 12v is for?
