Default Strut bar and h-brace fitting

Hi All,

Just seeking some help installing a new strut bar and h-brace set purchased for my 02 sti. I have installed front bar and need assistance with the rear and h-brace. Just where and also need to know if front should be tightened up at sides?

Thanks.

What type of brace? Ultrex? Whiteline?

Rear H-brace is very similar to the front, but you have to remove the rear seats and the seat belts and surrounding trim to get access to the strut top.... you fit the ends of the strut bar first then attach the centre bar after the ends are in place.

I'll try dig up a DIY for the rear.

I made a DIY for the H brace a while back, I'll dig that up too.

hay, yeh I've checked your DYI out on the H-brace, I will use that, also looking for assistance for rear strut. Looked but cant find. It is a ultrex set heavy duty for sti. Any idea if the front should be tightened?

Thanks for you help.

Front should be firm, but dont go too tight.

Here's a rexnet DIY including the rear. Pics are dead though, but the steps are still there

if your talking about tightening up a thread in the middle of the strut bar, just sort of nip it up. I don't see the need to go pretensioning the strut towers.

Hint on installing the rear brace... get yourself a ratchet spanner set...makes the job much easier. Also before putting the nuts on, make sure that the brace mounting plate sits flat on the strut top. With the Ultrex one I fitted, the bolt holes were slightly out and needed to be filed out a bit.
When you tighten the three nuts on each side make sure they pull right down and are TOIGHT.
