What The Hell Is A V-mount??

Miggidy 28-01-2006 06:03 PM

Its called different things sometimes, basically its a top munt intercooler that sits at the front of the engine bay. less heat soak, less lag, if put in right its like a front mount intercooler with no lag.

V mounts seem to be pretty common in the dorift world. I was investigating it for my 323 but the layout of the engine made it pretty hard to get a decent sized core in.

For an Auto you want to reduce lag...stay with an uprated top mount and use a water spray with some very fine mist nozzles. On the track my bar and plate MRT tmic stays under 45deg C, measured at the throttle body. Yeah it heads north of 60deg C when the water runs out but I just set my $45 Jaycar temp sensors alarm to go off at 55deg C ;)

Good to 350ish hp, you will leave the fmic bling kids behind (maybe not with an auto) before they overcome the lag they payed heaps for. Visit RMS and have a look at Getagrips set up, nice and affordable.
