Top Mount I/C Opinions

Anyone heard anything or had any experience with the PWR range of intercoolers?? I've heard alot about Hyperflow, APS, and all the others, but no-one mentions PWR.

Just curious

Pete, aka [ATZ xxx] is running a PWR TMIC

I reckon they're pretty good, had a radiator custom made from them for the hatch and top quality

yep, very good cores, as good as any top brand you can thing of, Jap included. They are not the cheapest, I think i paid around 1600 for mine a few years ago.

Excellent flow and rapid heating/cooling properties (they heat up as quick as they cool down air, a trait of tube and fin intercoolers) very light.

Personally, if I had my time again I would just get a good front mount and be done with it.

PS, saw you in Mandurah Wednesday, where's the love man? you just sat low/pimpin styles and drove right by, not even a glance, haha (me, blue 01 WRX) :poke:

LOL!! Was my brother i think what time, sorry dude, will be sure to get him to wave next time. Not sure about front mount because 1) ITS AN AUTO, and 2) ITS AN AUTO!!

What u guys think, FMIC or TMIC for auto? Thinking of changing to VF29 turbo to, so keep that in mind, and brad, you're severely misunderstood, i'm not the rich one dude!! Look in the mirror :D

I had a FMIC with the auto, its a bit more lag but hey, when its summer, its worth. In WA, summer is always longer than winter. Except this yr, where the summer is weird. I miss the FMIC now

DEDLYWEPN 27-01-2006 09:28 PM

Why would you prefer a FMIC in summer?? Wouldnt it be shit with the hot air (excuse me if its a dumb question, i'm trying to suss it all out)

Red MY01 27-01-2006 10:39 PM

The benifit of a FM in summer is that it doesn't heat soak so bad and they are much better at cooling as they have a much greater airflow and most of the time a bigger surface area too

pmh 28-01-2006 12:05 AM

Heat soak is the worst in summer. Its fine if you're constantly moving, but city driving where there's stop and go's, you can't avoid it at all. With the FMIC, yes, you'll get lag, but any decent ECU and tuner can minimise that. I was happy with the FMIC i had.

i hated the FMIC, the lag is around 600-1000 rpm. no tuner can remove that, the only way to reduce it is to play with the pipework diameters, bends and angle mounting the turbo to optimise the flows and velocities of the air.

if i had my time again i wouldnt do a fmic and would go a large water/air barrel cooler.
