no. pre-compressor.

the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler is the same.

its the intake thats different.

ballbag 02-06-2010 11:45 AM

Ok, thanks for the info.

For anyone interested .. ...

Compressor fins were bent, had turbo rebuilt.

Stock MY94 with 110,000km.

Pre rebuild dynoed 104kw and 303NM
Post rebuild dynoed 113kw and 317NM

Anyone know what the numbers would have been out of the factory?

huey 10-06-2010 10:43 AM

was that atw or at the fly?

according to redbook 1994 wrx:
Power 155kW @ 6000rpm

Torque 270Nm @ 4000-4800rpm
these would be at the fly, also hard to compare dyno to dyno for different cars as there is many variables however yours seems to have quite a lot of torque, how does it drive compared to before?

ballbag 10-06-2010 10:50 AM

Sorry, figures are at the wheels. My torque value looks too high, maybe it's in lb/ft.

Chasis code is actually GC8B so I'm not sure if factory spec is 155kw or 176kw at the fly. Anyway, was wondering what that should translate to at the wheels.

Haven't yet been for a good drive but thus far it hauls nicely. Have a super-steep 5km climb right near my place so I'll be giving her a test this weekend.

huey 10-06-2010 11:02 AM

hard to say exactly what at the fly translates into atw due to dyno variables, gear ratios and driveline factors etc best comparison is the bum in the seat dyno, that should give you a pretty good reading of whether you've had an improvment in torque/power over the previous spec.

ballbag 10-06-2010 11:07 AM

Yeah. Wouldn't you know it, as soon as I'd sorted this problem out the bum-in-seat-dyno throws up a new issue. Noticed my bike (ZX10R) is flattening out at 10k RPM last night! Farkin.

chee 10-06-2010 11:31 AM

yeh sounds about right (your dyno figures).

any mods to the zx10? maybe plugs?

ballbag 10-06-2010 11:44 AM

Yeah, the usual on the bike; air filter, slip-on, PC III. Plugs only have 8k on them but it is due for a valve shim. Fuel pump is a bit noisey. Maybe it's faltering at those revs, but strangely the power comes back on at 11500. Seems to be mostly in 3rd and 4th. Might be a mapping issue I just hadn't noticed before.

Forgot, head is ported and polished too. Goes hard.
