AFR's can go as lean as 12.5:1 and be entirely safe, its moreso your ECU and the speed at which it can interpret wideband readings to make corrections that determine whether its a good idea for your car or not.
most people opt between 11-12:1

My tune is 12.2:1 downlow going to 11.5:1 higher up the RPM.
