Mine was $1750 inc install from mms (this was a year and a half ago though so it may have gone up, was also not the only thing I got so it could be because it was part of a package or something)

Yes, but make sure you tune it, hope you enjoy "dak dak" noises.

I sort of had a guess at the price.

I haven't installed the up-pipe, but have had the TBE on for about 25000km. No issues with it.

If you're looking for some serious mods, or just want to be a fulleh m4d karnt, then go the butler.

Very, very worth while mod. Like most things you get what you pay for. If you want something that's quiet and still flows well you need to spend a lil more.

To save starting a new thread, I've got two questions. I've searched my arse off, but haven't come across definite answers, or they are outdated...

With my MY99, will it need a tune with a TBE. Some people say no, others say yes...I obviously don't wanna fuck my engine, but if it requires a tune, I probably wouldn't bother with a TBE and just get a cat back. I won't be doing any other mods in a long long time.

Also, I've read about the Varex mufflers. They sound like a good idea, but I understand they are illegal. Is it the sort of thing that gets a yellow sticket/big fine easy, or do you have to be a prick to get a copper to bother checking for it?

Edit:Ps , sorry for hijack

AFAIK GC8's have a self learning ecu so they can adapt to changes like a TBE. Where as 01 onwards wrx's do not have self learning ecu's thus needing a tune. So you will be fine.
Hell i'm running a vf28+TBE on a my00 wrx with stock ecu.

Thanks for the reply. That was the general consensus I was drawn to, but some people seemed to be very concerned about getting an exhaust but not a tune.

You should only be concerned if you have a 01+ WRX.
No worries mate.
