Car accident last night

Hi Guys,

Was hoping my first question to you guys on this forum was a happier one about my 05 wrx but......
I had a bit of an accident last night in my pride and joy, couldn't believe it. I'm fine but the car has seen better days..... have spoken to the Insurance company and it's all covered. But like all you guys I love my wrx and don't want no pork chop repairing it.

I haven't Dealt with any panel beaters in Perth before as I'm not originally from here so I'm hoping you guys can shed some light on the Smash repairs below for me. Are they any good? had any problems with them etc?

The list of repairers from the insurance company i have are:

Chas Greenwell smash repairs - Shenton Park
Priestman & Sharp - Shenton Park
Paull & Warner - Perth
Wark & Wainwright - Bays Water

Is there any other company's you would recommend?
The Insurance company said if i have a preferred repairer to let them know

Any help or guidance from you guys would be great!
Appreciate your help!

What part of the car needs to be repaied?

Rossco 19-09-2010 11:41 AM

Chas greenwell is good mate & one of my larger clients.

Or JW Zarb in osb park

Smokey 19-09-2010 11:41 AM

Romanos Smash Repairs are good (either of them).

ajay05 19-09-2010 11:51 AM

I'll be up for a new front bumper and lip and the brace in front of the radiator is bent. I was more concerned with the damage underneath. The strut brace is bent out of shape and the exhaust pipe is squashed underneath as it comes out and under the car from the engine bay so guessing that will have to be replaced there's a gouge/dent in the rear passenger floor and i've noticed some oil coming from the diff not a lot just around the seal but not sure if that is usual or not...

I swerved to miss a car and ended up hitting a medium strip (so worried about the suspension too) and running over a turn left sign but just a small 1 meter high one..... which went under the car.

Thanks mate it's good to get some reassurance on places. Cause there are some dodgy places out there. It's good to know when your car is getting looked after and not just in and out as quick as they can

In-style customs

In-style Customs Panel and Paint in Bibra Lake, they were quality and really professional, although I only got a front lip done, they do repairs too!!!

I would say to come to my shop but we are booked out for any smash repairs for 6 weeks :/

Most of the shops mentioned above will do a good job. :)

Hey Mate, Thanks its a relief to know the shops have some good feed back, You mentioned most? is there one you wouldn't recommend?
What shop do you work at?

My olds are in the Industry but there over in Sydney. The old duck works for auto quote and deals with a few shops over in WA so she is also going to look into it too for me.

Looks like the fuel tank is dinted too, shit the list keeps getting bigger. Tried to post some pics but not working.

That's nothing. My wife had a crash in July. She was front car in a 3 car smash. Booked in for repair with Platinum smash in Wangara and have been told due to the backlog of hail damaged cars, smash work has low priority. It won't be put in until late November - early December...

Rossco 19-09-2010 04:35 PM

^^ Yeah...There are some very busy panel shops around at the moment due to the hail fiasco.... We are receiving orders now for panel jobs that aren't due to be started until January

Some shops are bouncing normal smash jobs until April next year...Although some shops are refusing all hail damaged cars because there's no money in it for the beaters....Insurance companies pay <$20 per hour for their labour.

P.s In Style are great too

Your is Subi so I guess you'll want someone local (i.e Osb Park/Shenton park)

J & W Zarb Car Craft
Perth Panel & Paint
S & A Smash Repairs
Chas Greenwell
Bert Bennet
McCarthy Car Craft
Osborne Smash
Advantage Panel & Paint
Nick & Alberto
Modern Collision

These^^ are the bigger ones around our area, all produce excellent quality work & workmanship.

There's a large selection in Osb park, I deal with all the above & wouldn't hesitate to take my car to any one of them.

Pm Gordo about Zarbs...They Rock! :)

Hey, mate
I'm the paint shop Forman at McCarthy craft. We do a pretty good job and I tend to take pride in doin wrexrys being an owner. Only problem is were pretty booked out due to hail!

Nah I cant say who I wouldnt recommend. Any of the shops Rossco mentioned will be ok.

We are booked out until May 2012 for hail but for smash we are booked out for 6 weeks.

Smash has a higher priority for us cos if we neglect the smash people they wont come back to us. Hail jobs are a bitch and can take up to 6 weeks. People dont understand that they arent the only person who got hit and they just have to wait like everyone else. At least they can still drive their car unlike the smash job people.

Nice one! Always good to know a good painter. LOL
Had a mate who crashed his car a few months ago and the paint job was terrible, they didn't match it to well.
Are you guys in Claremont?
Got some family friends in Sydney who know and recommended McCarthy Car Craft. So i think i'll be giving you guys a call :-)

GX-REX 19-09-2010 08:08 PM

Do not use Hi-Lite Smash in Bayswater.

Zarbs in Osborne Park do a few subis and looks like decent work coming out of there.

Phil from AFM Enterprises in Osborne Park - 08 9244 5333 he's in demand and usually flat out no harm seeing if he can fit you in.

I wouild not recommend Bert Bennett for a good job.

A very good mechanic friend of mine used to work for a osborne park mechanical shop that does alot of repairs for insurance companies.

He has told me of a few horror stories with Bert Bennett's work.

I myself have used them many years ago when Bert Senior was running the show, they did a average job for a cheap price, it was good for the particular vehicle at the time.

But, I would not send my pride and joy there.

BALISTC 20-09-2010 07:06 AM

Phil Foster - AFM Enterprises.

He's excellent.. but you'll be waiting a while!

Hahaha funny shit. Did my apprenticeship at hi-lite. Half the reason I got out of the industry is pricks like him.
Pretty sure Josh on here has/had a datto in there getting a respray a while ago. Sure he would have more current insight.

Shit thats no good! How did it get written off, you both ok?

Tried to upload photos but im doing something wrong, I have it being assessed at McCarthy Car craft tomorrow there preferred Subaru repairers and i've herd great things about them.

The front bar, lip, Bottom strut brace will have to be replaced and part of the exhaust got squashed right next to it too. I was guttered! I've babied the car since i bought it, about to get new slotted rotors and tyres for it too then this happened. Its all fixable but just heart breaking when stuff like this happens.

ajay05 04-11-2010 05:03 PM

Well after all this time i finally got my car back, Good new is the damage was only minor New bumper bar front lip H brace and exhaust piece with some small dent work on the floor pan.
Car is looking sweet.

Bad news is the guys who repaired some gutter rash on my wheels have Far*ked up good and proper.
Not only have they sprayed them the wrong colour they didn't even bother to call me to confirm anything or even try to match the colour they were!!.
You'd think they'd match up the paint to one wheel, then spray one wheel to see if it matches???? Then spray all four. But instead they just though ah this colour will do he wont notice!!! yeah right!.
So phoned up ROH to get the paint code but they said they don't do gold rims any more and PPG can no longer get the paint.
Long story, short the rims will never be the same........................... Can't match a colour that has been painted over. Back to the drawing board to find a new gold.

Does anyone know the paint code for the Advan RS Gold rims???

Don't accept/pay for it until they get it right. Matching paint colours reasonably can't be that difficult....
Talk to Wheels World about the colour...

phizzle 05-11-2010 09:24 AM

Base + tints??? Not fucking hard. Dumbasses at Bunnings can do it for a house so a qualified spraypainter should be able to match it piece of cheese.

Or bite the bullet and just get them powder coated in gunmetal. So much porn.

V3 RA 05-11-2010 09:29 AM

must be glad to have it back. Pity about the wheel issue, hope its quickly solved mate.

ajay05 05-11-2010 10:35 AM

Thanks Guys,
Yeah good to have her back!

But after getting it home and having a closer look the bar hasn't been fitted properly and there are a few spots that look like its only had 1 coat of paint only around the inside of the bar but still... either so going to see the bone head insurance company today. What sh*ts me off the most is i have an approved repairer and the insurance company gave me a whole lot of babble about the quality there repairers........ and they choose the repairer... Will see how it goes today

RUSSGT 05-11-2010 10:40 AM

You have tio have the car come back as it was before the accident. If it doesnt take it back!

ajay05 05-11-2010 10:58 AM

Yeah don't worry thats exactly what i'm doing! Just waiting for just cars to get back to me so i can show the quality of the work they promised me.......

nauli 05-11-2010 01:11 PM

So who ended up doing the job? McCarthy's?
