Default Few Questions about Boost :P

Hey,

Ive done a few searches but cant find exactly what im looking for.

Im just wondering about the boost on my 05 2.0L WRX.
I have had the wrx for a few weeks and put a boost gauge in it yesterday. The boost hits 15psi and then at around 6000 revs it goes down to 13 psi. Is this normal for a MY05 2.0L WRX that isnt tuned? Or does this mean it has been tuned? It has a full 3inch turbo back exhaust, would this change the psi?

Also getting a verso tune in 1 week and thinking of running 18psi, would this be fine? Just wasnt sure if the verso tune had a set psi or if they guy will ask me? Also seached the verso forums but psi isnt spoken about much, lol

Thanks!

You would hit peak boost before 6000rpm I would say. It would tend to fall away later in the rev range..

18psi on the stock TD04 turbo is starting to push the limit. But it can be done. Like most things, be prepared to replace it when it breaks. You would need some supporting mods though I think, to get the most out of it. Ie: injectors or de-caps, and a larger fuel pump.

The guys at ASG will tune to what your car is happy with. It may be 15psi, 18psi or 24psi.

All subarus will 'spike' at low rpms and then taper off with rpm, so what you have described is normal.

Stock should be around 1 bar (14.5psi) so given that guages are usually inaccurate, your's sounds stock.

Yeah it hits peak boost way before 6000 revs lol, but then drops off to 13psi at 6000 revs, just wondering if thats right? Ive read that 13.5psi is stock boost, but im hitting 15psi.

Should make some good torque after the tune.

Post up how it goes.

Default Verso Tune

Got the car tuned today!

Just drove it home then, its alot smoother when changing gears and is quicker for sure! Seems like it wants to rev alot more. Also noticed boost is holding up to 6000revs, when before the boost would drop off around 5000. Looks like its hitting 16psi,
Gonna go for a drive later to get some better info

What does everyone think of the dyno chart?
