Same thing happens with mine, we then upgrade to a full exhaust and it runs even richer now, but Autronics went in today, will have to let u know how it goes tomorrow when i get it back, RMS is one of the many places in Perth that can effectively tune a new ECU for u, just research which one first and go into them and talk about it with them

If money is a bit tight go with EcuTek and also ask them about what else they can do, good luck mate

Just called, they confirmed its just running rich. Will be visiting tomorrow for a chat re. ECU etc.

I didn't think RMS did EcuTek, just Link/Autronic/Motec?

Am interested to hear how you go with the Autronic.

Cheers

Mine does the same thing (i have the MMS turboback). Sounds like large chunks of unburnt fuel going through making huge thumping noises. Gives me a fright every now and again when it makes a loud crack haha.

All good, it will be tuned in a fortnight or so!

Because of the exhaust, you will be putting out higher "engine loads" , no changes to AFR should be needed to your particular stock ecu.

All you really need to do is rescale the load axis on the lo det fuel map, hi det fuel map, ignition maps and ignition correction map (maybe MAF sensor scaling). After this things should be quite sweet, i would say remap would be best bang for buck.

If you are more for the whole ecu thing.. go motec and do it once.

Pete.

The rear bumper is slightly stained. This, I guess, is explained by the car now running richer? When the car is first started (cold) there is a slight spitting of what looks like watered down oil (not oil, I imagine but water that built up overnight and become dirtied by the dirty exhaust??). This spitting quickly passes as the car warms up.

Also, at night, when under WOT, I can see "smoke" in the lights of the car behind me. Do you think this is, again, from a richer mix?

I *feel* like the car is every so slightly slower.

Just some observations I have had. My question is, can a cat-back exhaust cause the ECU to run richer and can running richer cause the above symptons?

I will be talking to RMS about a new ECU and full TB exhaust (the more I mod, the more I want to mod - you guys are right ) in the next few days.

Anyway, just wanted to give some feedback. If this post sounds negative, its not meant to be, as I am extremely happy with the note/service/worksmanship etc.

Also, I hate that I can't search for "RMS ECU" on this forum (words are too small). I really want to get some feedback on RMS's ECU work and want to search the forums before I post another thread....

Any feedback (or links to other threads) appreciated.

Good to hear, I feel the stock ECU will be compensating with the new exhaust.

RMS did my ECU
I had a Link fitted, better fuel economy, put it from 169kw to 200.5 and the car was just better to drive
