Default Removing engine - any tips from the veterans?

As most of you know already I blew my head gasket the other night so I'm in the process of removing the engine to get it sorted and was wondering if anyone who has done it before has any tips with regards to getting it done with minimal drama.

I've removed and installed plenty of engines before but they have all been Holden and Ford and Datsuns but never a Subaru so anything anyone can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

I hear this loud and clear 'minus the Datsun part', I took heaps of pictures along the way so I can blow them up later and use as reference, I've also masking taped all relevant bolts/nuts etcetera together and attached them to the relevant piece I'm removing, took heaps of notes along the way as well.

Unsure if the clutch pivot rod issue I encountered 'which was diagnosed by Doug', relates to you as well 'check out my 'come to a turning point thread for images and Dougs' response 'as this is something I wouldn't have factored into the removal'.

Good luck with it all, once you get the engine out and remove the manifold, everything else is pretty straight forward.

Would also be a good idea to get a hold of the Service Manual 'sorry for the lack of description', there is a member on here 'I think their nick is lestat something, whom might be able to help you out 'their avatar is of their white bug front end with a panda comment.

you can keep the a/c and power steering lines connected and flip the pumps out out either direction either side of the motor, saves the mess.

Yep, my motor has been out a number of times and I've never had to re-gas the A/C.

Wish I had known that before my mate went bull at a gate on it and let the gas go on the aircond. Oh well, live and learn.
