From the research I have done, the STI Motorsports belt seems to be the best you can get, better than all the other aftermarket ones.

"If you are feeling adventurous you can buy the STI upgrade timing belt which is made from kevlar and basically never needs to be replaced"

epic thread revival i know but the above comment surprised me, is this bloke talking nonsense or what?

type25 18-01-2012 04:30 AM

According to Michael South (MSR) the sti motorsport belt is the belt to use, as it has less stretch/flex, giving more accurate cam timing throughout the rev range, especially when using more aggressive cam profiles and stiffer valve springs.

It makes sense to me.

norwest_rumbler 18-01-2012 08:47 AM

yeah, but 'never needs to be replaced' is what surprised me, not what you're talking about.
my account finally got approved there last night, so i will ask the poster in that thread later.
