Twin plate clutch install problem?

After bolting the engine to the gearbox I can't turn the engine over by hand using a spanner on the crankshaft pulley bolt, it's firmly locked in place. My guess is that I didn't properly align all of the plates etc on the exedy twin plate clutch setup and now it's locked together. Does anyone know the correct way of installing this clutch and/or the alignment procedure? Exedy's web site doesn't seem to have any information on this particular clutch, or is it the same method with all twin plate clutches?
Thanks.

It won't be the clutch unless you really did something bad.
I reckon you have trapped the thin steel inspection cover in the flywheel when you bolted the engine to the gearbox.

Twinplate clutches need to be aligned with a proper splined tool, you cannot improvise.

I pulled the engine back out of the car again and checked the clutch and it appears as if the input shaft wasn't lined up properly with the clutch and it has mashed the teeth on one of the clutch plates thus ending the life of that clutch. So now i have to try and find someone who has an exedy twin plate (or equivalent brand) clutch in stock today if i'm to get the car back on the road today. But this being Perth I don't like my chances.

So if anyone knows of anyone who would have one in stock and are open today then please let me know.

but it shudnt of mashed the teeth, sounds like you put the engine halfway in and used one of the bell housing bolts to pull it in, but yea, like dtrally said, when aligning any clutch, alignment must be done correctly...no exceptions.

Out of intrest.. How much is a twin plate worth?

OK I've fixed the mashed teeth, wasn't as bad as I thought thankfully. Where would I get an alignment tool or could an old input shaft be used instead?

An old imput shaft would be ideal if you have one.

I don't have one but I figure it might be easier getting one of those instead of the tool.
