i own this car now, & its still fucking has this fuel smell, only when car is cold though, i've checked hoses/fuel filter under bonnet, fuel lines, tank gasket at fuel pump/sender unit, its got me stuffed now, only thing i can think is the injector o-rings?

also does this random thing of not starting, usually after a short trip, i'm suspecting its the fuel pump control module so i have another known working one to swap over & test

i'm just curious if this car ever had a brant installed on it? do all bugeyes get a brant from the factory or just sti's?

My bugeye evo5 has the same problem fuel smell when cold, has a brant system ( guess its factory fitted )

The rubber fuel lines (the joiners in the steel lines) on the under side of the inlet manifold can often leak slightly when cold, then as they pressure up they will seal. The bad news is that the inlet manifold will need to come off to change them. You'll likely find them all hard and perished. I've had to re-do a few now. All been Bugeye WRX's for some reason???

^ Agree with god. I smell fuel when really cold, then it goes away. Also on bugeye.

Might also be worth checking the breather hoses for a split. I was getting a similar smell when outside temperature was cold and engine was cold on my bugeye. I had the breather hoses replaced and the smell has since disappeared. Budget around $100 to replace hoses if you can't do it yourself.
