Which Spark Plugs???
 

After looking through various books and tune up information I can't decide whether my 2000 model GC8 has to take a platinum plug or whether it will take a conventional? I can get a set of BKR6E-11's for about $20 instead of $100 for a set of platinums..........

Atomic's are good save fuel good proformance

Spark plugs do NOT save fuel. They only save fuel if the old ones are completely fucked, and in that case, any NEW spark plugs will help to restore the good fuel economy.

I recommend a set of NGK PFR-6B, or if your running lots of boost, NGK PFR-7B. They arent cheap, but nothing good ever is.

Never heard of the Atomic ones, you got any more info???

You own a performance car, don't skimp on shit parts such as spark plugs. Good plugs are hardly expensive.

thats very tru, it is well worth spending 100 dollars on plugs then 5k on a build

Platinum spark plugs aren't any better than standard plugs. They are just long life. 100,000kms instead of 40,000kms.

The NGK PFRs arent platinum anyway, they are iridium.

On a performance car, spark plugs should be changed more often, even the "long life" plugs. I aim to do my plugs every 25k km.

Hey Ballistic, i'm running 16psi, would this justify running a cooler plug?

I always run colder pulgs in any engine that is subject to any sort of hard driving, including my own, as the engine will usually get hot enough for the plug to get to it's self cleaning temp, whyle also reducing the chance of expensive engine damage due to the plug begining to glow red and pre ignite the air/fuel.

Iridium/platinum plugs are good if you dont want to change them every 10,000k as Balistic said, although i didnt notice much of a difference in performance or fuel economy between standard NGK plugs and Iridium ones that i had fitted, but i change my plugs every 10K anyway.

You do get what you pay for though and if you skimp on any engine part, then expect problems.
