Put in ment that the setup work was done by dieter, Jamie lister was going to weld it in but in the end brad " welded" it under advice from Jamie that it would be 1300 well spent to have him do it!

Wouldn't really have thought that the wording I used above would have been so hard to follow, or is that a forum thing that I didn't use the precise words therefore my argument must be wrong? ( no offense ment by that)

Just hard to determine what you meant by the differing steps between "putting it in" and then "welding it in". Generally it would be one crew doing the whole job. Just a little different is all. Adding a few more words like had Dieter help get it all laid out in the car and then Brad weld it might have made it easier to understand. :)

Without upsetting anyone in WA, yes I do, but it seems to be that over here most people are to good for bond cages. I personally can't see why but I have had a few without any issues!

Mine is not painted yet ( I have been very slack) so if you want to come and have a look at it you can, it fits perfectly and brads welds are top notch! I would go so far as to call it a thing of beauty!

Custom cages are good also but I can't really see the difference other than a shiny website with CAD pictures....

Each to their own I guess but I don't like the way people bash bond cages just because they are bond cages!

To all guys interested and are not aware:

Antilag are wanting to bring over Ben from Ground Up Motorsport in Queensland. Who is he? I have no freaking clue but the prices for putting in cages are insanely good!

From one of the posts:
"Each car will differ so measurements will be taken for each car so that the correct amount of materials can be ordered. The measurements we have taken should be acceptable for most Jap/Coupe cars. Based on estimated time to build each of the cages, and average measurements the prices will be as follows for steel, TIG welded, weld in cages:

Half Cage: $1800

Full Cage: $2900

Things that will increase the price:
- Car is larger and requires more material
- Car requires complex design = more time
- Extra Bars
- Bolt in/removable sections = more parts

Again, prices may vary for larger/complex cars but prices for extra bars as follows:
Side intrusion bars x2: $300
Extra Diagonal: $150
Harness Bar: $200

Anyone who has purchased or shopped around for a proper cage will know that these prices are very good. Now that the prices are up I would like to get an indication of those that are serious. We are looking to start the first cage 4-6 weeks from now and I will be looking at taking deposits over the next 2 weeks.

My gripe with Bond - having owned one - was the amount of work required to make it fit. You justified my point by claiming it cost a further $2500 to fit it before any welding.

Bumping this up.

Seems I will be going down the cage/seat/harness/possibly hans route later this year.

I don't see myself going state level any time soon, but may look at rallysprint next year.
I have been doing mostly RAC/Barbs/Collie type events, and feel like I'm starting to get to the pace and level where I need to start seriously thinking about safety.

Looking at a bolt in bond or AGI cage at this point. Wanting something that won't be too noticeable when driving to and from events, but would like a harness bar as part of the cage.

Here's a couple of links to aid the discussion:
