Aftermarket BOV replacement and tune?

Howdy all,

I’m putting the car over the pits tomorrow for rego and was going to change my aftermarket BOV back to stock.

Two questions:
· Is it as easy as it looks? You just unscrew and attach the OEM one?
· Will the change in the amount of air being returned to the system significantly change the tune? Is it something to worry about?

It's a 2002 STi with ECUTEK Stage 3.

Yeah its pretty simple, the only bit that makes it a little hard is getting the return pipe to go on the stock BOV. After you get that on, everything is super simple. One person to hold the return pipe in place makes it way easier.

With the BOV, i got a verso tune with a HKS SSQV and then went back to stock BOV after. All Star Garage said I wouldnt need a re-tune and going back to stock wont affect the tune.

Hope that helps ya out :)

If it means anything, when I tried to do the opposite (loud aftermarket BOV) on my Bugeye, it was a mission! GTONBOOST was who I wanted to purchase a loud, and attention seeking blow off valve from ;D and we struggled for a good 40 minutes to attach the stupid thing, only for the bonnet not to close due to the longer/higher adaptor! Trying to put the stock BOV on SHOULD* be easier, if you have help.

Best of luck

Brett.

Thanks for the info,

Thats all good to hear, I'm cutting it fine as I go over the pits first thing in the morning so I need to do this tonight.

If it all goes well, I intend to give it a run at Barbagallo next Thursday for Ricky's birthday.

Bang in a screw while you're in there.

Brent.

Why a screw? What will that do?

Hey bud,

You need to do the reverse of THIS to go back to standard. Be careful with the gasket between the BPV and the inter-cooler ;)

The grub screw mod is HERE, although its not 100% correct, and not even for the right car I might add. It is very similar though. Basically a grub screw in the small hole, next to the big hole, on the face of the BPV that sits on the inter-cooler :)

Mod is supposed to allow stock BPV to take more boost pressure

Happy days.........
